Kikanbo

Causeway Bay Jaffe Rd, 530號

Tsim Sha Tsui, Cameron Rd, 20號號 地下

If you love spicy ramen, you can't miss Kikanbo, highly regarded among local favorite Japanese ramen restaurants — the Thick Cut BBQ Pork Spicy Miso Ramen is a crowd favorite. The interior of the restaurant is themed around Japanese gods and monsters and they really specialize in spicy miso ramen. Restaurant owner Masakazu Miura's meticulous attention to every ingredient combines the elements of chili and miso with the soup base to create a ramen that will leave you wanting more. There are five levels of spiciness and numbness: not spicy, small spicy, medium spicy, high spicy, and extra spicy.

Customer Reviews

“Ramen shop for true coriander lover. It was meaty, umami, spicy and rich in flavor, just what you want from Ramen.”

– S L (an)

“This is a nice bowl of ramen with different levels of spice you can choose from. The aroma of coriander fills the entire bowl of soup base. Noodles are firm and the egg is cooked to perfection. The pork is melt-in-your mouth pork belly, delicious but just a tiny bit too fatty for me.”

– Little Journey

Kamitora Tonkotsu Ramen

灣仔 大王東街 10號 安東大廈地下

G/F Antung Building 10 Tai Wong Street East Wanchai, Wan Chai

Tucked away on an unassuming street in Wan Chai is the Kamitora Tonkotsu Ramen from Osaka, Japan. Kimura Mamoru, the Osaka head store's master chef, produces the Kamitora Tonkotsu Ramen. The long roasted Iberian pork belly has a divine sweetness from the fat, and the lean meat between the fat is so tender that it achieves the ultimate Mena reaction! The soup is rich but not greasy; each ramen noodle is filled with juices, and the combination of asparagus, seaweed, fungus, green onion, and purple onion gives it a rich flavor, making it the best ramen ever!

Customer Review

“Personally, I think it is one of the top three ramen shops in Wan Chai. It opened a branch from Japan and its taste is similar to that of Japan. There’s a long queue every day, but it’s worth the wait 👍”

– Allan Chang

“Ordered the monthly special Hokkaido Uni Cold Ramen. Uni had a pleasantly intense sweetness and tasted very fresh. The sauce was full of umami. Overall, the dish was extremely tasty, refreshing, and well-exceeded expectations.”

Kuma Ramen

Sheung Wan, Jervois St, 84號G/F

As soon as you enter Kuma Ramen, you can smell the barbecued meat. If you're a fan of heavy ramen, look no further than this hidden gem in Sheung Wan. Their hot barbecued pork with a thick soup base will surely make your stay memorable.

The loose egg is another popular recommendation. The egg yolk is just the right amount of runny, salty and flavorful without overpowering the dish. The signature Bear Ramen, even if you finish the noodles and soup in one gulp, you won't feel greasy. The roasted BBQ pork has a nice burnt flavor and although it is fatty, it is not too fatty.

Last but not least, I would like to mention their Brussels sprouts, which are spicy and appetizing, and the best part is that they let you add unlimited amount of them on the table.

Customer Reviews

“This ramen place in Hong Kong is one of my favorites. The noodles are tasty, and the broth isn't too salty, which I really appreciate. They even serve ice water, which is quite rare and I think it's the best! The staff are always friendly too!”

– HELI

“I have no clue how close it gets to a true Japanese style/taste but, regardless, Kuma is my favourite ramen spot in Hong Kong and has retained that place for the past eight years.
The pork-based broth is absolutely amazing and makes you want to drink it as is. The noodles are tasty and cooked to perfection (you can choose how hard or soft it is). I always recommend the diced pork instead of the slices, somehow I feel like I get more pork and less fat (very white guy perspective, here).
I always take an extra egg to go with the dish because it's so good. You WILL feel stuffed after all that, though... which is something I always look for in a good restaurant :)
Price-to-value ratio is unreal, at sub-100hkd for what I considering the best ramens you'll find in HK.”

–Justin d'Anethan
